Who we are

The Great Plains Contingency Planners, Inc. (GPCP) was created in 1992 by a group of local area corporate and public professionals dedicated to enhancing the business continuity and disaster recovery planning process. GPCP is a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Nebraska.

We accomplish this by providing an organized environment for exchange of information, networking and continuing education for all professionals.


Our objectives

• To promote and advance the improvement of Contingency Planning through study, education, and research.

• To advance professional knowledge and techniques by sharing and exchanging experiences and information related to the field of Contingency Planning.

• To develop and advance standards of professional competence in the field of Contingency planning

Great Plains Contingency Planners, Inc. will provide an organized environment for corporate-wide disaster recovery planning, including the exchanging of information, networking, and continuing education for all professionals.

Connection: You are connected to a larger group of professionals in the related fields of business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency management and planning.

Annual Seminar and Vendor Expo: This annual seminar / expo provides education and networking for continuity planner professionals at NO COST to members.

Free Informational Services: The organization keeps members in touch with each other and current issues through the organization's web site and email updates of emerging issues relevant to businesses within out region.

Networking: You have many opportunities to network with business continuity professionals in our region, building your contacts, sharing ideas, best practices and solutions to enhance your current job, find opportunities for career enhancement, etc. Networking events range from the Annual Seminar and Vendor Expo to regional meetings.

Continuing Education Activity Points (CEAPs): Certified Business Continuity Professionals receive continuing education activity points for attending the regular meetings and special events.

Affiliation: You will have affiliation with a professional association which earns you additional CEAPs.

Speaker Opportunities: Members have the opportunity to present material to the larger group for additional CEAPs.

Leadership Opportunities: You are provided opportunities to learn and practice leadership and meeting management skills that you may need for your resume, professional growth or self-promotion. Opportunities are available on the Board, committees and special projects.

Future Topic Input: All members have the opportunity to offer suggestions and voice their opinions on future speaker topics.

Upcoming events

Meetings

The Great Plains Contingency Planners meet every other month February through December. Lunch is provided at each meeting, followed by a presentation on an emergency management, business continuity or disaster recovery related subject. The December meeting is the annual Holiday luncheon courtesy of GPCP.
