The GPCP member meeting for August 2025 will feature a presentation from Brian Smith, Director of Emergency Management with Nebraska Methodist. 

Brian will present Artificial Intelligence in Emergency Management, a session focused on how AI tools—such as large language models and predictive analytics—can support planning, risk assessment, scenario testing, and decision-making. He will also address safety considerations, real-world use cases, and the importance of keeping humans in the loop.

Brian K. Smith, MS, CHEP, MBCP is the Director of Emergency Management for Nebraska Methodist Health System, where he oversees preparedness and continuity planning across hospitals, clinics, and an allied health college. With more than a decade of experience in emergency management and business resilience, Brian has led initiatives spanning vulnerability assessments, climate adaptation planning, and enterprise-wide continuity programs. He is an adjunct faculty member at Nebraska Methodist College and a doctoral candidate in Education and Leadership with a research emphasis on the intersection of technology and healthcare.
