Our February meeting will be held virtually (Teams information included in this invite) and our guest speaker will be Terry Lee from Protecht . His presentation is:

The European Rising Tide that Will Lift All Continuity Program Boats

In 2018 the Bank of England published a paper for discussion on the topic of operational resilience. The BoE is the financial services regulator for England, like our Federal Reserve, and they regulate the financial services sector in England through two departments - the FCA, and the PRA. The significance of the proposed regulation is significant: the BoE proposed an approach to continuity and resilience that shifted the focus from "how does your company recover from a disruption", ala classic BCM, to "how do you avoid impacting your customer in the event of a disruption." The proposal is now law. Since it's release, USA financial services regulators have considered its value and some have issued guidelines for resilience. What will happen next? Will the US financial services regulators fully embrace the concepts and good practices of operational resilience from the BoE, eventually replacing compliance requirements with standards like ISO 22301 and FFIEC?
