MidAmerica Contingency Planning Forum Meeting

  • 9 Dec 2021
  • 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Virtual

This FREE virtual presentation will be by Jim BairdDirector of Information Security, Information Security Auditor with 10-D Security.

News stories on ransomware attacks have unfortunately become commonplace.  Though ransomware has been around for a while, the attacks have evolved, and ransom demands have increased substantially.  Not only do the attacks result in locked-up data and systems, but many now include substantial theft of data to exert maximum leverage on the victims.  But where do the cyber-criminals post the stolen data?  The Dark Web is the likely place where that data (and much more) will be bought and sold.  In this session we will cover:

  • Cyber-attacker methods and their targets
  • Ransomware trends
  • Proactive steps to avoid becoming a ransomware victim, and planning actions “just in case”
  • The Dark Web
  • A demo of the Dark Web to uncover where it exists, what it contains, and why it should be examined with caution
